Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have caused blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while local people in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and applying restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen missiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were wounded.

The assaults come after periods of air raids in the region, portions of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with attacks already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
